City of Burlington Marks Passing of Retired Burlington Fire Chief Warren Corp & Recognizes Long-Standing Service to Community

It is with heavy hearts and sadness we share news of the passing of former Burlington Fire Chief, Warren Corp, who passed away on January 16, 2024. On behalf of Burlington City Council and the City, we send our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, friends and former colleagues — our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time. We honour and remember his dedicated and long-standing service in protecting our community.Chief Corp served the Burlington Fire Department for an impressive 37 years, leaving an indelible mark on the department, the city, and the lives of colleagues who had the privilege of working alongside him.His career in firefighting began in 1954 when he became a Volunteer Firefighter for the Burlington Fire Department, marking the beginning of a remarkable career. In 1963, he made history by becoming the first full-time firefighter for the Burlington Fire Department.Throughout his career, Chief Corp showcased his leadership skills and unwavering dedication to public safety. Promoted to the position of Lieutenant in 1965 and Deputy Fire Chief in 1968, he steadily rose through the ranks before being selected as Fire Chief in 1975.The flags at City Hall and fire stations across Burlington stand at half-mast in Chief Corp's honour until Monday, January 22, 2024.Chief Corps' contributions to the Burlington Fire Department and the City of Burlington will never be forgotten.
