Investing in your City: Updating City's Bylaws
Our weekly "Investing in your City" series continues, highlighting some of the significant investments being made in Burlington and that our community will benefit from.

The City is continuing investments to update some of our bylaws to ensure they are meeting the goals of our Strategic Plan, working as intended and remaining relevant for today and the future.The following bylaws are targetted for review:
- Update and revise the current cemetery bylaw to better align with neighboring municipalities – target completion June 2024;
- Outstanding Council Direction to update bylaws to address shipping containers – target completion June 2024;
- Park Dedication Bylaw Update Amendment – target completion July 2024;
- Comprehensive Licensing By-law Review - including Public Vehicle By-law, Pet Boarding, Short Term Rentals – target completion Dec 2024; and
- Continue with the implementation of the City-wide Private Tree Bylaw, and provide performance metrics as to the effectiveness of the bylaw. Continue to employ adaptive management strategies to continuously improve the effectiveness of the bylaw and improve service delivery to applicants. Actively educate members of the public with a multi-faceted approach (web, social media, in person, doorhangers) – target completion Dec 2024.
