• FRAMEWORK FOR COMMUNITY RECREATION — Parks and Recreation Department report, moved by Ward 3 Councillor Rory Nisan at committee.Approve the Framework for Community Recreation in the City of Burlington ("New Framework") as presented in Appendix A of report PR-11-19 to be the guiding policy document for the department of recreation services; andRescind the following Council approved polices; Leisure Service Delivery Policy (PR-7-00), Community Development (Rec-017), and Gender Equity in the Allocation of Public Recreation Spaces (PR-05-07)Carried unanimously by Council.Staff report: PR-11-19 Framework for Community Recreation; Appendix: PR-11-19 Appendix A - Framework.MY TAKE:What we are deciding on is a framework to help us allocate scarce pool, ice, and field times. These are difficult decisions and we need fair transparent criteria. We need to make our decisions based on what we’re trying to achieve for our community. The framework says to give as many people the chance to try as many sports and activities as they’d like. When we have a wait-list of 600 residents who can’t get into our pools, we have a problem and how to allocate that. We need to be fair to our community and those kids who deserve to access our community programs. This framework will help us make those fair decisions. The RFP was a completely separate issue from what we voted on related to this item. • NEIGHBOURHOOD WORKSHOP — Recreation Services Department report, moved by Ward 5 Councillor Paul Sharman at committee.Receive and file recreation services report RS-01-20 regarding community development initiatives Beyond Your Front Door and Blue Zones.Carried unanimously by Council.Staff report: RS-01-20 Neighbourhood Workshop— Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward*Posted by John Bkila, Mayor’s Media and Digital Communications Specialist
