Burlington Named Top Livable City in Ontario & Fifth in Canada by the Globe & Mail

We already knew this, and  now the rest of Canada does too: Burlington is the top livable city in Ontario, and ranks fifth in Canada, according to a new study published by the Globe and Mail.The study ranks the top 100 most livable cities in Canada, according to a number of criteria that “most Canadians value in their communities including the economy, safety and, the cost of housing.” The Globe also created a much larger list – including climate conditions, the number of movie theatres and access to health care – to allow readers to see which cities offer a balanced mix of qualities.Readers can select and prioritize certain attributes that they value most to find the best match for their circumstances.Burlington earned high marks for raising kids, welcoming young professionals and newcomers, midlife transitions, and as a place to retire. Burlington ranks best city in Ontario for: raising kids (9th nationwide); young professionals (14th nationwide); midlife transitions (3rd nationwide); second in Ontario for newcomers, after Wellesley (7th nationwide); and third in Ontario for retirement, after Oakville and Lambton Shores (19th nationwide).The top city in Canada was Victoria, BC, with five other BC communities in the top 10 including North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Saanich, Pitt Meadows and Oak Bay.No other Ontario community cracked the top 20. Ottawa was the second most livable Ontario city, at 24.In Halton, Oakville ranked 29, Halton Hills 100, and Milton didn’t make the list.The full ranking of Ontario cities is as follows:
