Burlington marks Pride Month with flag-raising, proclamation and lighting of Brant Street Pier

Please see the below media release from the City of Burlington.Burlington, Ont. — June 3, 2019 — The City of Burlington is proud to proclaim June to be Pride Month and raise the Pride Flag over City Hall. On June 23, the Brant Street Pier will also be lit up with beautiful rainbow-coloured lights.

Earlier today, Deputy Mayor and Ward 6 Councillor Angelo Bentivegna read the proclamation and helped raise the Pride Flag at Civic Square with assistance from representatives of Honourable Karina Gould, MP Burlington, Minister of Democratic Institutions’ office and MP Oakville North-Burlington Pam Damoff’s office, and Councillors Lisa Kearns, Kelvin Galbraith and Rory Nisan.MY TAKE:As I prepare to represent Burlington at Juno Beach in France this week for the 75th anniversary of D-Day, I wanted to thank Deputy Mayor and Councillor Bentivegna for stepping in to help proclaim June as Pride Month at the City of Burlington — and for helping raise the Pride Flag at City Hall with my council colleagues.I also want to thank you Burlington MP and Minister of Democratic Institutions, the Honourable Karina Gould and Oakville North-Burlington MP Pam Damoff for sending their local representatives to help celebrate the start of Pride Month in our city.Burlington is a positive, welcoming and inclusive city for all of our LGBTQ+ community and I want to wish everyone a Happy Pride month!
