Burlington Public Library Expands Reopening: Four branches with limited services starts July 14

*Please see below a media release issued by the Burlington Public Library.BURLINGTON, ON - On Tuesday, July 14 (today), Burlington Public Library (BPL) reopens Aldershot and New Appleby branches for holds pick-up service. Central and Tansley Woods branches reopened for holds pick-up service last month. All other branches remain closed until further notice, and programs and room rentals are cancelled.The four branches are open limited hours for holds pick-up, where customers can enter the branch to collect and check-out the library items they reserve in advance. No walk-in service or browsing at this time. Library items may be returned to any BPL branch outside drop box. All returned items are quarantined for 72-hours. Due to high volume, returned items may take more than a week to check-in.Also starting July 14, library members may book a computer for a 45-minute session at an open location. Computers must be reserved in advance: online at www.bpl.on.ca/services/computers or by calling 905.639.3611 ext 1202. Customers may book up to eight sessions in a 30-day period. To use a library printer, customers must first reserve a computer session. No faxing service or walk-in printer access are available at this time. Burlington residents without a library card can apply online or call for help getting a library card.All members of the public must wear a face mask while inside the library as set out in the City of Burlington’s Mask or Face Covering Bylaw, which comes into effect on July 20. On arrival, unmasked visitors will be provided with a free disposable mask to wear. Until then, customers are encouraged to wear a face mask for their own safety when physical distancing in public is challenging to maintain.Open hours at Aldershot, Central, New Appleby, and Tansley Woods are:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and
  • Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Branches are closed to the public on Friday, Sunday & Monday, and holidays.As Burlington and the Province of Ontario move through their own reopening phases, the Library will also gradually reopen other locations and offer more library services when it is considered safest to do so.For more information:
