Changes to Burlington Mayor's Calendar, Events and Office Operations Amid COVID-19
As Mayor, my top priority is keeping the people of our city safe, healthy and informed. In light of the current situation with COVID-19, and the rapidly changing updates from healthcare professionals and our partners across all levels of government, my focus right now is to be fully engaged in absorbing this influx of information and advice, and working with my colleagues at Burlington City Hall and our Rapid Response Team to respond and act in a timely manner. With that said, my ability to attend previously scheduled meetings and events in our community is changing. With health experts encouraging social distancing and 6-foot (1.8-metre) buffers between individuals, as well as the avoidance of any large gatherings, many of my pre-existing plans now require modification to keep everyone safe.My team is working diligently to reach out to reschedule those commitments or find new ways of providing my support. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding during these unprecedented and challenging times. At every opportunity, I will share information and updates with our community as I always do, via my website and social media channels, and in partnership and alignment with our City communications group via the Burlington.ca website and city social channels.Stay healthy, follow the advice of healthcare experts, and support one another. Let’s always be our best through these trying times.— Mayor Marianne Meed WardPLEASE NOTE: To read the Mayor’s statement on what the city is doing regarding COVID-19, please visit this dedicated page, which will be updated daily as new information becomes available.--*Posted by John Bkila, Mayor's Media and Digital Communications Specialist.
