City of Burlington & Halton Regional Councillor Rory Nisan Re-elected to FCM Board of Directors

*Please see below a news release issued by the Region of Halton.The Regional Municipality of HaltonFor Immediate ReleaseJune 8, 2021On June 4, 2021, City of Burlington and Halton Regional Councillor Rory Nisan was re-elected to the Board of Directors, Ontario Caucus for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) at their Annual General Meeting.FCM is the national voice of municipal government and plays an important role in advocating to ensure the needs of municipalities are reflected in federal policies and programs.This is Councillor Nisan’s third term on the Board of Directors.

Since 2019, Councillor Nisan has advocated for municipal priorities to the federal government through FCM, including his successful advocacy efforts for essential emergency funding during COVID-19 for municipalities, delivery on rural broadband internet access, and a new FCM policy to support a fair market for e-book sales to Canadian libraries.He is also serving as the Vice-Chair on the Standing Committee for International Relations to ensure results-based programming that aligned with the federal government’s priorities.
