City of Burlington launches online citizen engagement platform, Get Involved Burlington
Media Release — The City of Burlington has launched its new online citizen engagement platform, Get Involved Burlington. The platform will be one more tool the city will use to gather resident feedback.Residents are encouraged to visit and register at www.getinvolvedburlington.ca. Residents who register by June 19, 2018 will be entered into a draw to win an iPad. The draw will take place on June 19 via Facebook Live on the City of Burlington’s Facebook account, facebook.com/cityburlington.Topics that will be posted include development applications, construction projects, budgets, transit, transportation, parks and new topics as they come up. Information gathered from Get Involved Burlington will be used by staff and City Council to make informed, evidence-based decisions.The site is moderated 24/7 and will be a safe space for those who may feel intimidated by sharing opinions publicly.Projects listed on Get Involved Burlington launch include:Where’s your favourite spot in Burlington?Participants can place a pin on a map of Burlington to share their favourite spot in Burlington and to share why it’s a favorite place.Transit PlanIn 2018, Burlington's Transit Plan, will recommend to Burlington City Council, a multi-year program that will guide the development of a new transit network and level of transit service in the city.The goal for the new transit network will be to:
- Increase frequency and reliability of bus service
- Focus service on the city's most heavily travelled streets
- Create better connections with other major transportation systems like GO rail service
- Improve the comfort and convenience of taking transit.
