Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) have shared a letter with area residents in the Alton Village neighbourhood updating the community regarding the recent fires on Lodi Road. They note that extra patrols are being conducted in the area and share support resources that are available. To read a copy of the letter, please click/tap here: HRPS Letter to Alton Village Community. My office is in communication with Halton Police and the Burlington Fire Department, ready to share any public updates. Halton Police have said in a news release they are treating the fires as suspicious and investigating. A copy of that release is available here: https://www.haltonpolice.ca/en/news/suspicious-fire-in-burlington.aspx.As this is an active investigation, additional details may not yet be available to share. However, any further information Halton Police releases publicly will be shared on my platforms.News of these fires is quite disheartening and I share the deep concerns of community members and residents. I'm grateful to the Burlington Firefighters who attended the fire on scene, the fire crews and police members who oversaw area evacuation efforts, Burlington Transit for providing temporary shelter to evacuated residents, and the work of Halton Police in investigating these matters.
