Halton Region Opening new COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic in Burlington

Starting today, eligible residents can book to their vaccination appointments at the new location through Halton’s online booking system.

We are making great progress on vaccinating our community, but our ability to open appointments to more eligible groups and expand vaccination options remains dependent on ongoing and predictable supplies from both the Provincial and Federal governments. In addition to our new Burlington clinic, we also have capacity in our current clinics to significantly increase what we are doing now – we are ready to get more people vaccinated as we receive more vaccines from the Federal and Provincial governments." -- Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr

Halton Region now has seven COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics across the region, operating seven days a week. In addition to opening the new Burlington location, clinic hours will be extended into the evening at the FirstOntario Arts Centre location in Milton starting May 18. This will provide more options for residents to book their vaccination appointments at a time most convenient for their schedules. Residents are reminded that all appointments must be made through Halton’s online booking system and walk-ins will not be accepted.

Halton Region Public Health is reminding all residents to continue to adhere to public health measures, regadless of vaccination status. This includes staying home as much possible, only going out for essential reasons and only gathering indoors or outdoors with their households. When out in public for essential reasons (getting groceries or medicine, attending medical appointments or work) or enjoying outdoor activities, residents are reminded to wear a mask and keep a two-metre distance from anyone outside their households.Important information & instructions:

  • Halton Region continues to open appointments in alignment with the COVID-19 vaccination schedule for the month of May.
  • Appointments will open to the outlined groups as closely to the posted dates as possible; appointments will be added to the online booking system as supplies are confirmed. The vaccination schedule for the month of May is contingent on vaccine supply available from the Federal Government and doses allocated from the Provincial Government.
  • As appointments open to subsequent groups, Halton will be informing residents primarily through its website, social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, and by emailing subscribers.
  • Halton Region Public Health will not be making exceptions. Residents who are currently eligible can continue to book appointments through Halton’s online booking system.
  • While booking online is the fastest way to schedule an appointment, residents can also call 311 if they require booking support. Residents who are not currently eligible to receive the vaccine are asked to avoid calling 311 or visiting the online booking system to ensure eligible residents have access.
  • Vaccinations at Halton’s clinics are by appointment only (no walk-ins). Please do not contact clinics directly. Bookings for Halton residents are not available through the Provincial booking system; residents who access the Provincial booking system will be redirected back to Halton’s system.
  • As of May 7, residents who are currently eligible to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointment at a Halton Region Vaccination Clinic will have the option to book same-day (“last minute”) vaccine appointments through our online booking system. This option is only available to those who are currently eligible. These appointments will become available when there are last minute cancellations at a vaccination clinic, and can only be used for first dose appointments only.
    • Same-day (“last minute”) appointments are only available if cancellations have occurred at a clinic. If a resident selects this option, they must arrive at the clinic within 30 minutes of booking and go to the vaccine clinic selected.
  • Eligible residents can book appointments at any one of Halton’s seven COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics located in Burlington (including Joseph Brant Hospital), Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville (including Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital). Parking is free at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and Joseph Brant Hospital for those with scheduled appointments at these clinics.
  • Residents who are 40 years of age or older can also choose to get vaccinated through one of multiple participating pharmacies. Please do not call 311 for pharmacy appointments. If you are 40 years of age or older, please visit ontario.ca/PharmacyCovidVaccine to find a location and information on how to book.
  • Appointments are also available to any Ontario residents 40 years of age or older at participating primary care offices. To book an appointment at a primary care office, you must be 40 years of age or older and have a valid OHIP card or other form of valid government-issued identification. Please contact the primary care offices directly to book an appointment. Locations include:
  • Residents who have already scheduled an appointment for vaccination through Halton Region can verify/check their appointment details or reschedule first dose appointments.
    • Halton Region is reminding residents to cancel their appointments by calling 311 as soon as possible if they found earlier appointments (for example, through a pharmacy). By cancelling your appointment, this ensures that someone else who is eligible can get the vaccine.
    • Residents are strongly encouraged to keep their second dose appointment as scheduled, unless for extraordinary circumstances. If you have already received your first dose at a Halton Region Vaccination Clinic, please note that changing second dose appointments cannot be accommodated.
  • Residents are asked to attend their appointments alone if possible in order to limit the amount of individuals in our clinics and maintain adequate physical distancing. You may bring one support person, if required (for example, a caregiver or interpreter).
  • To maintain physical distancing and safety measures, please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment (not earlier) and remember to wear a non-medical mask. Please note: you will be required to bring proof of age and residency in Halton to your appointment.
