As the holidays draw nearer and we get ready to say good-bye to 2019 and hello to 2020, I want to wish all of our Burlington residents and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season. My staff and I look forward to doing more great work in the new year as we begin a brand new decade together in Canada's Best Community.I also wanted to update residents on some closures and some holiday scheduling at City Hall and in the Mayor's Office.Burlington City Hall will be closed from Dec. 24, 2019-Jan. 1, 2020 and will reopen to the public on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020. The Mayor's Office will be periodically checking our main email inbox during the holiday break. Burlington Transit Tickets expire on Dec. 31, 2019Burlington Transit tickets expire on Dec. 31, 2019 and staff recommends switching to a PRESTO card to pay your fare. A PRESTO card can be used for transit across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.Bring your tickets into the Downtown Terminal, 430 John St., and have their cash value transferred to a PRESTO card before Dec. 31, 2019.You can buy and load a PRESTO card at the Downtown Terminal, GO Stations, Shoppers Drug Mart or online at prestocard.ca.Animal Shelter and ControlThe Animal Shelter will be closed from Dec. 24 to 26 and 30, 2019 and Jan. 1, 2020.
