How to Get Involved in the City of Burlington
Have you ever looked around Burlington and thought to yourself you have a good idea that could help us do better as a city and community? The City of Burlington has created Get Involved Burlington -- our online engagement webpage that allows residents to connect with City Hall anytime, anywhere on matters where community input would help shape decisions that affect our daily lives.Last month, City staff brought forward their 2020 Annual Engagement Report and 2020 Engagement Statistics that listed more than 40 items that our community members had an impact in directly changing or influencing a decision made at City Hall. Some of those include: 2020 and 2021 Budget; Advisory Committee recruitment; Advisory Committee structure; All-inclusive care for elders; Brant Hills splash pad; Business community consultations; Cannabis Lounges; City of Burlington sustainability initiatives; Climate Action Plan; Community construction projects (parks, buildings, playgrounds); Community development; Community garden program – assisting with the development of new community gardens on private land; and COVID-19 Public Town Halls.I invite everyone to take a look at the full list of items in the engagement statistics — if you've ever doubted how much your voice can affect change in your City, here’s evidence to the contrary. Our City has grown for the better over this past decade and its thanks, in part, to our amazing and engaged community members. To learn more about the Get Involved Burlington page, watch the live below and visit getinvolvedburlington.ca to learn what current projects and initiatives we can use your input on. Be sure to check back often as new projects are gradually added to the webpage.RELATED LINKS:
