Mayor Meed Ward’s Weekly Update: Feb 22-28, 2021

Hello Burlington,I am hearing feedback from many in our community that people are slowly starting to return to some of their favourite places and activities now that they have safely re-opened as part of our move into the Control-Red zone. I know this added layer of engagement in our community is providing many people with both economic and mental health benefits. I want to thank all our local businesses as well as city and regional staff for taking the necessary steps to create safe and healthy environments for both your customers and your employees. Our health partners at the Region and those at the Province are watching our COVID-19 numbers closely to see the impact of these moves. I'm glad to see our new cases continue to trend down thus far. Our continued vigilance is working. Let's keep it up.Our vaccine rollout in Ontario continues to happen despite supply chain issues, and I am fully plugged in to updates from General Hillier at the provincial level, as well as our partners at Halton Region who are busy preparing for public vaccinations in the coming weeks. You can find out more information on the Region's website about timelines as well as staffing and volunteering opportunities.Let's keep doing the right things by wearing masks, physical distancing, washing our hands, avoiding indoor gatherings and staying home when we're sick. You can check out my schedule for the week ahead including meetings, advocacy work and media engagements right here at: Mayors Weekly Public Update Feb 22-28 2021Stay healthy and be kind to one another as always.Mayor Marianne Meed Ward
