Good morning Burlington,We're marking National Drowning Prevention Week (July 17-23) this week. Let's all come together as a community to promote the importance of water safety and drowning prevention. The City of Burlington offers several swimming programs for all levels to help save lives and to learn this important life skill. You can head to burlington.ca/swimming to learn more.We'll also be raising the Red, Black, and Green Liberation Flag -- recognized as the Pan African Flag -- at City Hall this week ahead of the start of Emancipation Month (August) & International Day for People of African Descent (Aug. 31).Last week, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore announced that he believed the current 7th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic will peak in about 2 weeks. The Province is expanding second vaccine boosters to anyone aged 18-59 years old, as of July 14. Dr. Moore encourages Ontario residents to be up to date with their vaccinations, noting many have not yet received their 3rd dose.Halton residents aged 18 or older can now book an appointment to receive a 4th dose/2nd booster of the COVID-19 vaccine through Halton’s online booking system.
