Mayor Meed Ward’s Weekly Update: June 5-11, 2023

Good morning, Burlington!Tomorrow marks the 79th anniversary of the D-Day Landing at Juno Beach during the Second World War and I will be joining the Burl-Oak Naval Veterans for their Naval Memorial Service at the Naval Ships Memorial Monument in Spencer Smith Park. The service begins at 11 a.m. and honours the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve (RCNVR) and Merchant Naval Veterans who were lost, wounded, and captured, as well as those who returned from the war. This year is also the 100th Anniversary of the RCNVR whose members played a vital role during WWII. Senior members of the Juno Beach Centre Burlington will highlight this important time in our history during the service. For more details on the service and what’s happening this week, please see my weekly update for June 5-11, 2023 here: Mayor's Weekly Public Update June 5-11, 2023.Have a great week!~ Mayor Marianne Meed Ward
