Mayor Marianne Meed Ward Weekly UpdateGood morning Burlington,Yesterday, we welcomed the first day of spring and the promise of warmer temperatures and return to all the fun activities and things we like to do in the sunshine and during this season!Today also marks the Province lifting its mask mandate in most settings (including in schools, restaurants and stores), with the exception of select settings, such as public transit, health-care settings, long-term care homes and congregate-care settings.On Saturday (March 19), Halton Regional Council voted by majority (20-1) to end the Regional mask bylaw effective 12:01 a.m. today (Monday, March 21).Burlington City Council will be discussing our mask and physical distancing bylaws, and State of Emergency declaration tomorrow (Tuesday, March 22) at our regularly-scheduled Council meeting. Staff is recommending Burlington lift all three. Council may not be unanimous on this decision, so a meeting is being held to discuss it on the public record to honour the municipal process.Our City will be taking an educational approach to enforcement during the short in-between phase of the Provincial and Regional lifting of their mask bylaws and the City's.My full weekly update can be found here: Mayors Weekly Public Update March 21-27, 2022.~ Mayor Marianne Meed Ward
