Mayor Meed Ward’s Weekly Update: Mar 7-13, 2022

Mayor Marianne Meed Ward Weekly UpdateGood morning Burlington,Thank you to everyone in our community who came out yesterday to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress-sponsored Stand With Ukraine rally in Civic Square in front of City Hall. I am continuously proud of how supportive and compassionate the people of Burlington are and it was amazing to see the unity and passion for freedom at this important moment in time.International Women's Day arrives tomorrow and this year's theme is #BreakTheBias - where we are asked to truly imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. We have many people in our community working towards these goals every day, and some great local events happening this week. We must never lose sight of how important equality truly is.As we approach March break next week, I know many of you are lucky enough to be looking forward to long-overdue family vacations outside of the city, and some creative staycations too, so I want to wish all of you a safe and healthy week full of good memories and a little rest & relaxation. If you'll be staycationing in Burlington, always remember to check out the wonderful Burlington Tourism website - it is full of great ideas of things to do, from hiking the Bruce Trail to checking out cool exhibits at our museums, galleries and Royal Botanical Gardens, to enjoying some new restaurants or shops and more! The Burlington Downtown Business Association website also has a great events section including local music events and details on the annual Taste of Burlington which goes on right through to March 20th.My full weekly update can be found here:  Mayors Weekly Public Update Mar 7-13 2022~ Mayor Marianne Meed Ward
