Mayor Meed Ward’s Weekly Update: May 3-9, 2021

Good Morning Burlington,Over 33% of Canadians have now received at least their first shot of a vaccine. We have come a long way in the past month and May will be even more accelerated with Canada receiving 2M more doses this week. Find out if you're eligible via the Halton.ca website and please watch for more eligibility news being released every week. Today marks eligibility for workers who turn 50 or older this year and cannot work from home. This week marks some beloved annual celebrations in honour of our two twin cities - Apeldoorn, Netherlands (Canada Netherlands Friendship Day) and Itabashi, Japan. I noticed this weekend what a lovely coincidence it is that both the tulips beside the "Louise" bench gifted to us by Apledoorn and the Japanese Sakura trees just a few steps away are both in bloom at the same time! What a beautiful sight for all the residents who were out getting exercise this weekend and walking through the park.My full weekly update for the days ahead can be found here: Mayors Weekly Public Update May 3-9Sending you all continued wishes for good mental and physical health.Mayor Marianne Meed Ward
