Mayor Meed Ward’s Weekly Update: November 1-7, 2021

Good Morning Burlington,I hope everyone had a fun-filled Halloween! It was great to see some little trick-or-treaters around the neighborhood and feel a bit of normalcy. It was also great to see that it wasn't raining! I don't know why it so often rains on Halloween night but this year was a welcome reprieve.It's November now and a bit hard to believe 2021 is so close to being over. If you're anything like me, the past two years have blurred together in many ways. This year is different though, with so many of us vaccinated and a true light at the end of the tunnel with case counts and hospitalization capacities more stable. I cannot say it enough: our community's resilience and commitment to keeping one another healthy has been the biggest inspiration and kept me going on many tough days.November will bring with it many special occasions like Diwali (November 4th), Remembrance Day (the 11th), the start of Hanukkah (the 28th) and awareness months for causes and issues like lung cancer, osteoporosis, Movember, Crohn's and Colitis, diabetes, and domestic violence. I always look forward to November as the start of the holiday season for so many cultures and organizations - and I love the events and decorations that go along with it all!I hope the start of your month is a great one.
