Mayor Meed Ward’s Weekly Update: November 16-22, 2020

On Friday afternoon, the Premier announced that Halton Region will be moving into the CONTROL (red) level in their new framework to control the spread of COVID-19.I issued a statement on my blog shortly thereafter to help clarify what this means for our residents and businesses as we implement additional safeguards together and follow the Province's direction with the support of our Medical Health Officer, Dr. Meghani. If you have not yet read that statement, I encourage you to do so here - not only to better understand the new controls and measures being implemented today, but to see the transparent data that is driving these decisions, and how you and your family can make informed and beneficial choices that will help us avoid further spread.I have to once again thank our healthcare professionals and other front-line workers who continue to support the health and well-being of our community as we deal with this second wave. While Burlington's case numbers remain low, I want to remind everyone that we are all in this together and we must all do our part throughout Halton Region and beyond. We are all connected, and our individual actions make a difference in the overall health of our communities and the impact this virus has on our interconnected healthcare system.The week ahead is another busy one, with our next public telephone town hall taking place this Wednesday night, and many other meetings and workshops. Halton Region is also expected to release their review of our updated Official Plan (with new downtown and other materials, as well as previously identified conformity issues).
