More tickets available for Tale of Two Cities event on June 13
Organizers of the upcoming A Tale of Two Cities, a conversation featuring myself and Oakville Mayor Rob Burton, on June 13 have announced more tickets have been released due to an increase in demand. The event, put on by the incorporated non-profit Engaged Citizens of Burlington (ECOB), has been moved to the main auditorium at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. The informative evening will include a discussion of some important issues, and the similarities and differences between our two neighbouring municipalities. The event will be moderated by ECOB co-chair Roland Tanner. Please find more information on the evening from ECOB’s Eventbrite page.DESCRIPTION:Two cities, in some ways very similar, in other ways very different. Over the last decade, Burlington, it is fair to say, has seen division over the direction of council, and the implications of intensification for different areas of the city.Oakville, like Burlington, has to meet provincial targets for intensification. Yet it has not seen the major changes to its downtown that Burlington is seeing. Nor has it seen, so far, the strength of citizen opinion that has arisen in Burlington.Join us for a wide-ranging conversation with the mayors of Burlington and Oakville, as they consider the contrasting experiences in each city, and what we can learn from the other.DETAILS:
