News briefs: Construction to start on trail from Ontario to Grahams Lane; pedestrian signal installed on Lakeshore at Paletta park; transit route changes start Sept. 2

Trail from Ontario St to Grahams Lane

Construction of the Ontario Street to Graham’s Lane Multi-Use Trail is scheduled to start in mid-September and will continue for approximately 3-4 months. The trail will be 4 meters wide and surfaced with asphalt paving. There will be benches, trash receptacles and vehicle access bollards where the path meets roadways, to prevent unauthorized vehicles from accessing the trail. There will be a dashed centre line down the middle, which is the industry standard to help manage traffic on the trail, by delineating the direction of travel. The city will be sending a notification letter to residents within 120 meters of the site in the next couple of weeks.

Pedestrian light at Paletta

The city is in the process of installing a pedestrian-activated stop light at Lakeshore and Paletta Lakefront Park. This is great news for residents in the area who have wanted a safe way to cross the street to access the park.

Transit changes to Route 1
