News briefs: Construction to start on trail from Ontario to Grahams Lane; pedestrian signal installed on Lakeshore at Paletta park; transit route changes start Sept. 2

Trail from Ontario St to Grahams Lane

Construction of the Ontario Street to Graham’s Lane Multi-Use Trail is scheduled to start in mid-September and will continue for approximately 3-4 months.The trail will be 4 meters wide and surfaced with asphalt paving. There will be benches, trash receptacles and vehicle access bollards where the path meets roadways, to prevent unauthorized vehicles from accessing the trail. There will be a dashed centre line down the middle, which is the industry standard to help manage traffic on the trail, by delineating the direction of travel.The city will be sending a notification letter to residents within 120 meters of the site in the next couple of weeks.

Pedestrian light at Paletta

The city is in the process of installing a pedestrian-activated stop light at Lakeshore and Paletta Lakefront Park. This is great news for residents in the area who have wanted a safe way to cross the street to access the park.

Transit changes to Route 1

Several Burlington Transit changes will occur Sept. 2 to improve reliability:Route 101: will become an express route from Hamilton to Burlington. All Route 101 bus stops will be identified by a new Route 101 Express sign.Route 1/1X: will make limited stops on York Boulevard and Plains Road West.Route 1X: Hamilton-bound Route 1X into the Aldershot GO station will turn north on Cooke Boulevard to avoid traffic at the Plains Road and Waterdown Road intersection.For more information visit: September Route Changes
