Proclamations are read at the beginning of every regularly-scheduled Burlington City Council meeting.A proclamation is an official announcement issued by the Mayor to recognize exceptional events, groups, people, or achievements in the City of Burlington. The NMOSD community is dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of this disease in order to promote research, improved patient care, and outcomes, and ultimately find a cure.

MeatOut Day: March 20, 2023Since MeatOut Day was launched in 1985, more than 35 million Americans have explored a plant-based diet and reduced their consumption of meat, dairy, and eggs; and major food manufacturers and national franchises are marketing more vegan options in response to this growing demand.

World Down Syndrome Day: March 21, 2023Halton Down Syndrome Association’s (HDSA) World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) promotes awareness to represent the tripling of the 21st chromosome found in those individuals with Down syndrome through educational campaigns, activities and events held across the Halton community.

Shri Mataji Devi Day - 100 Year Celebration of The Festival of New Beginnings: March 21, 2023Participants of Sahaja Yoga are celebrating the 100 Year Celebration of The Festival of New Beginnings this year. This practice encourages love, compassion and unity and has been a beacon of hope and a source of strength for Burlington residents and people across the world. A celebration took place this past weekend to launch 100 Seeds of Joy with the goal of hosting 100 free community mental health events in Burlington.

April 2023BeADonor Month: April 2023The goal during BeADonor Month is to inspire those who have not yet registered consent for organ and tissue donation.

Dig Safe Month: April 2023The Ontario Regional Common Ground Alliance (ORCGA) annually promotes many education events across its thirteen (13) Geographic Councils that cover all of Ontario, including the Dig Safe Kick-offs in April and “April is Dig Safe Month,” to raise awareness of the importance of proper excavation practices.

Green Shirt Day: April 7, 2023 Green Shirt Day was created to honour, remember, and recognize all the victims and families of the fatal Humboldt Broncos bus crash and to continue defenseman Logan Boulet’s legacy by inspiring Canadians to talk to their families and register as organ donors.
