Statutory Public Meeting & Recommendation Report to Discuss Burlington’s Response to Province's Bill 109 – More Homes for Everyone Act on Dec. 6

A statutory public meeting and a recommendation report to discuss the City of Burlington’s response to the Province's Bill 109 – More Homes for Everyone Act will take place at the hybrid Community Planning, Regulation & Mobility (CPRM) Committee on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will also give the public the chance to offer their feedback to Burlington City Council. If you would like to delegate at the meeting, please fill out the online delegation registration form at burlington.ca/delegate, submit a written request by email to the Office of the City Clerk at clerks@burlington.ca, or by call 905-335-7600, ext. 7481 by noon (12 p.m.) on Dec. 5. Detailed information about how to participate in the StatutoryPublic Meeting is provided further down this post.What is Proposed?The Bill 109 legislation makes a number of significant legislative changes, in particular with respect to the Planning Act, in an effort to, among other goals, impel the timely processing of certain applications to bring housing to market and increase transparency in the process. Bill 109 changes five pieces of legislation, including the Planning Act.The purpose of the proposed Official Plan amendments is to update:

• The information and materials required to make a Planning Act application complete;
• Notification requirements in the Official Plan; and,
• Other amendments to address development application process changes.

The report will update all members of Council about Bill 109 legislation and recommend that Council approve the proposed Official Plan amendments. The report will be available on the City’s website at events.burlington.ca/meetings by searching for the Dec. 6 Community Planning, Regulation and Mobility Committee.If you need a hard-copy of the report, please email clerks@burlington.ca to arrange pick-up.How to speak at the Virtual Public Meeting as a delegationTo speak at the statutory Public Meeting, there are two options:

1. Pre-register to speak by noon, Dec. 5. You can pre-register by:
   1. filling in the online delegation request form at www.burlington.ca/delegation;
   2. submitting a written request by email to the Office of the City Clerk at clerks@burlington.ca, or
   3. calling 905-335-7600, ext. 7481.
2. Register during the Statutory Public Meeting.
   1. If you are attending the meeting virtually, you can register to speak by emailing clerks@burlington.ca
   2. If you are attending the meeting in person, you can register to speak during the meeting by following instructions provided at the meeting.

Speakers are limited to a maximum of 10 minutes each and are webcasted online.If you have presentation materials, please submit them to to Kristin Sprukulis, Committee Assistant at kristin.sprukulis@burlington.ca no later than noon (12 p.m.), Dec. 5, so they can be distributed and reviewed by all members of the Committee.
