Stay Active in Burlington with Free Summer Activities & Events

*Please see below a news release issued by the City of Burlington.Burlington, Ont. — June 21, 2023 — This summer, the City of Burlington is hosting many free events and programs for residents and visitors. There will be fun activities and events suited for everyone.

Big events are always fun, but sometimes the smaller neighbourhood events are where people make connections and build relationships. Concerts in the ParkConcerts in the Park are every Wednesday and Sunday from 7:30 – 9 p.m. at Central Park Bandshell (2311 New St.) from now until the end of August. Bring a blanket or chair, pack a picnic and join us for an evening of free music. For a full list of artists, visit burlington.ca/concerts.Movies Under the Stars, presented by Access StorageMovies Under the Stars, presented by Access Storage will take place on select Thursdays in July and August at parks throughout the city. Come early and bring a picnic or snack and pick your spot on the grass for the night. All movies start at dusk. For specific dates and times, search “free swim” at burlington.ca/dropinandplay.This summer our outdoor pools will be walk-in only for recreational swims; no reservations needed.Love My NeighbourhoodThe Love My Neighbourhood program is designed to help you form connections, strengthen relationships, and build support systems for your community.The program is a one-time per year grant of up to $500 per neighbour, resident or street section, condominium, or apartment group in Burlington. The money can be used to host a neighbourhood gathering or weekly activity.Join us in celebrating Burlington's 150th anniversary by bringing the community together. This year, our goal is to help people organize 150 neighbourhood gatherings across the city, creating memories that will last a lifetime.Learn more at burlington.ca/neighbourhood.Mountainside Pool and Splash Park Grand OpeningMountainside Pool’s grand opening is June 30, starting at 3:30 p.m. A free community BBQ and ice cream social will start at 4 p.m. and free swimming will be open that weekend. To learn more, visit burlington.ca/mountainsidepool.Canada Day and Burlington’s 150 CelebrationCome down to Spencer Smith Park on July 1 between 4 and 10 p.m. to enjoy Canada Day and Burlington 150 celebrations. All musical special guests have called Burlington home. Performances start shortly after the opening ceremony kicking off with Rob Preuss (of The Spoons & Honeymoon Suite) and friends and will feature some chart topping musicians that you won’t want to miss.Visit burlington.ca/canadaday for more information.Pop-Up n’ PlayPop-Up n’ Play is a play experience where children can explore, create, imagine and play in their own way in parks. City staff will provide materials to foster unstructured play that allows children to explore and use their imaginations. Parents are encouraged to watch their children play and see how their imaginations soar in the Pop-Up n’ Play space.
