COVID-19 Task Force Meeting #8 Highlights
Yesterday marked the 8th meeting of the Burlington COVID-19 Task Force and was, as always, well attended by dozens of leaders from throughout our community who continue to prioritize the collaborative work being done together through this challenging time. The meeting began with an update on the City's redesign of services as they start to resume in the coming weeks, along with how all Halton municipalities will be working together to align through the Halton COVID-19 Recovery Committee, whose meetings start next week.Jenna Puletto, of the City of Burlington, provided an update on how City staff are working to efficiently enable restaurant patio expansions, when requested, so that additional physical distancing measures can be implemented when our beloved restaurant industry finally reopens for dine-in service.Eric Vandewall of Joseph Brant Hospital provided an update on how they - and other hospitals in neighboring communities - are preparing for service reintegration. He also explained that since the Premier encouraged more Ontarians to get tested, they have seen a 70% increase at Joseph Brant and results are coming back on average in 24-48 hours, which is great news.Discussions continued around community supports for food and supplies, and how needs related to warm weather clothing and hygiene items are now increasingly important. Issues around domestic violence/family violence and mental health are a growing concern that all are working on.Read the full highlights here: Burlington COVID-19 Task Force Meeting 8 - Action Items and HighlightsRELATED LINKS:
