Two Sponsorship Opportunities Available with the City of Burlington

*Please see below a media release from the City of Burlington.Burlington, Ont. — Feb. 6, 2020 — The City of Burlington is looking to fill two sponsorship openings that present an exciting opportunity for a local business or group to showcase their commitment to the community. The Canada Day Celebration and Burlington’s first-ever rainbow crosswalk sponsorships can offer a local business or group a chance at high-profile visibility within the City of Burlington.

"Both of these are great opportunities and are focused on a positive, fun, community-oriented and large-scale event and project that people are searching for and wanting to participate in. Having your group or business's name attached to it will generate exposure and show that they are committed to this community." — Chris Glenn, Director of Recreation Services, City of Burlington

Canada Day CelebrationBurlington’s Canada Day celebration is ranked as one of Canada’s Top 100 Festivals and Events. With more than 60,000 visitors from Burlington and area, this sponsorship provides an opportunity for a business or group to achieve a high-profile status and become well-known within Burlington and beyond. The event features live entertainment, vendors, food with the grand finale of fireworks. For more information about the event, visit burlington.ca/sponsorship or contact Lori Henderson, 905-335-7600, ext. 7814.Rainbow CrosswalkOn Sept. 23, 2019 Council approved a motion that will bring a rainbow crosswalk somewhere in the city this spring. The crosswalks are in recognition of Pride and inclusivity.Staff have received requests for crosswalks at about 15 different city intersections. But the City only has funding for one crosswalk. City staff have formed a Rainbow Crosswalk Project Team made up of representatives of the LGBTQ2IS+ community and the group has suggested there be more than one location within Burlington. The crosswalk will be an important feature that will become a key landmark geographically as well as socially for the city. A sponsorship of the crosswalk will give the business or group a positive and inclusive spotlight that could be seen beyond the city’s boundaries.

"This is a great opportunity for a local business to work with the City to show our support and pride for our LGBTQ2IS community. We want to make sure these crosswalks are beautiful and durable and will be using an installation method that is easy to maintain. We're inviting local businesses to support this initiative by sponsoring an additional location in the City that will be vetted by the Rainbow Crosswalk Project Team." — Vito Tolone, Director of Transportation, City of Burlington
