Update on Burlington's Green Street and Walkers Line Windows-on-the-Lake

Some Burlington residents have been inquiring whether there have been any updates to on the Green Street and Walkers Line Windows-on-the-Lake. City of Burlington staff has provided the following update.Green Street Window

• Staff have met with Conservation Halton on site, as a result they have received the Technical Requirements for Permit checklist. This will enable staff to complete the terms of reference to hire a Coastal Engineer to complete a detailed design for the shoreline protection.
• There is $50,000 in the capital budget in 2020 for consulting services.
• The RFP for consulting service will be out in early November.
• The detail design and documents to tender should be completed by the beginning of Q2 2020. Cost estimates for construction will be provided at various stages by the consultant to inform future budget.
• At this time, funding is not identified in the budget for construction. However, staff will monitor leftover funds from the from the sale of waterfront properties also being used for Walkers Line.
• The window to construct under Fisheries requirements is between July 1-Sep. 15.

Walkers Line

• Topographical survey work has been completed.
• Design will be completed in house (this was delayed with the start of a maternity leave) this fall with tendering early winter.
• Construction will be scheduled in Q2/Q3 2020.
