Who are the nominees for Burlington's Best Awards this year?
The Burlington's Best Committee recently announced it received 28 nominations in eight categories for this year's rendition of the Burlington's Best Awards. Nominations were accepted from Jan. 2 to March 7, 2019.Burlington's Best is an awards program that honours the city's most outstanding citizens. The winners in all categories will be revealed at the awards celebration on Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. A dessert reception will follow the awards' ceremony.

This year’s nominees are:
- Citizen of the Year — Jere Hartnett, Karen Phelps, and Fareen Samji;
- Junior Person of the Year — Connor Clark, Ana Cunha, Keziah Oduro, Noor Toeama, and Joel Wakem;
- Senior Person of the Year — Ona Allen, Trudy Csernyei, Sue McBay, Robert Redhead, and Alan Stupart;
- Environmental Award — Salma El Ali, and Iroquoia Bruce Trail Club;
- Arts Person of the Year Award — Gary Fisher, Cheryl Goldring, Sarah Gonyea, Gery Puley, and Hayley Verrall;
- Community Service Award — Kevin Andrews, Kathy DeSantis, Dani Heroux, Greg and Andrea Howard, and Jeff Moseley-William;
- Heritage Award — Joan Downey, and Marie Minaker;
- Accessibility Award — None.
