MY TAKE:I'm very pleased that Burlington City Council was able to deliver the lowest tax increase to our residents in eight years, while increasing funding for infrastructure, reducing the operating budget and adding high-value community initiatives. These are never easy discussions to have, but Council and City staff have done incredible work for the community, including investments in renewing infrastructure, increased access to improved transit, and the protection of our tree canopy — all delivered by a 2.99 per cent increase in the city's tax portion, which drops to 1.94 per cent when combined with tax increases from Halton Region and the boards of education.
