City Council Approves Next Steps for Potential Purchase of Robert Bateman High School Site

MAYOR MEED WARD'S TAKE: This is a yet another step forward to ensure the former Robert Bateman HS site remains in public hands, serving our community in new ways going forward. The emerging vision for this property would see the largest community centre here, as well as an expanded library, a Brock University campus, Halton District School Board programs and TechPlace -- with space left over for additional uses. I look forward to continuing to share with residents and hear from you throughout this process, as we continue to shape our vision for this space.*Please see below a news release issued by the City of Burlington.Burlington's Robert Bateman High School SiteBurlington, Ont. — Feb. 7, 2022 — At a special meeting of Council held on Feb. 3, 2022, Burlington City Council endorsed next steps to advance the potential acquisition of the Robert Bateman High School site from the Halton District School Board (HDSB).In Dec. 2021, Council had provided direction to staff to submit a formal offer to purchase the Robert Bateman High School site that was declared surplus by the HDSB in 2021.City staff will report back in the coming months as on-going work continues with the HDSB to move this important real estate transaction forward.Quick Facts:
