Get Ready for the Swim and Splash Season with Swim Lessons and Safety Courses in Burlington

While we await the warmer weather to arrive, the City of Burlington offers you a number of ways to prepare for the summer swimming and spray pads season.A Backyard Pool Safety Course took place on May 4, but another is scheduled for Saturday, May 25 at Tansley Woods Community Centre, 1996 Itabashi Way. You can register online at burlington.ca/play.The course provides pools owners with the tools needed to stay safe in and around the water of their backyard pool. Participants will receive a backyard pool safety kit during the two-hour course, which runs from 10 a.m. to noon. The City also is encouraging members of our community with children aged 2-and-a-half to 12 years-old to register them for June swimming lessons. Being able to swim is a valuable life skill to have and it's an essential part of staying safe and having fun in and around waterways and pools. The lessons run twice a week for four weeks in June and registration can also be done at burlington.ca/play.

"Swimming is such a fun and healthy activity. Our goal is to have everyone in the community know how to swim. We have so many options for water-play in the City, from our indoor and outdoor pools, splash parks and pads, and also the Burlington Beach. I encourage people of all ages to sign up for lessons." — Chris Glenn, Director of Parks and Recreation
