Mayor Extends Well Wishes for Chief of Staff's Next Career Move

With immense gratitude and my full support, I would like to extend my congratulations and best wishes to Victoria Langdon as she embarks on her next career move. Her last day with the City of Burlington is today: Friday, June 3.Victoria has been my Chief of Staff since January 2019, and has played a vital role in the strategy and communications of the Mayor's office for the past 3.5 years. She also provided critical communications to our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping them informed about health information, regulations, and where to get help. She has built strong and collaborative relationships with staff, constituents, community and business leaders, and our veteran community from day one. Her ability to get things done with positive energy and a tireless work ethic has made a lasting mark on our city. She also showed boundless compassion and kindness for staff going through challenging times, arranging cards, flowers or gift baskets to cheer their day and let them know we were all thinking of them.As she moves back into a senior communications role in the private sector, we wish her nothing but success and fulfillment. We thank her for her passionate and steadfast service to the people of Burlington, where she was born and raised and is proud to call home. The entire Mayor's Office team will miss her encouragement, support, wisdom and compassion. Please join us in celebrating her significant achievements of her time with us, and wishing her well on this new career opportunity.~ Mayor Marianne Meed Ward, on behalf of the entire Mayor's Office teamA few parting words from Victoria:It has been a genuine honour to serve our community as the Mayor's Chief of Staff. I have never had a more meaningful job and I treasure the experiences and the relationships I’ve built in this time with amazing colleagues, community leaders, government peers/MPs/MPPs, veterans, business owners, and community organizations.I feel immensely privileged to have contributed to the pandemic response for our city and done what I could do keep people healthy and informed at such a challenging time.Looking back, I am most proud of the ways I was able to support our Juno 75 event, the launch of the Key to the City program, the collaborative and impactful work of the COVID-19 Task Force, the adjustment of the MTSA/UGC designations from downtown to the Burlington GO station, our annual holiday fundraising campaigns and International Women's Day events, and the incredible community survey results we got this year that demonstrated the positive impact of our pandemic response and the quality of communications from the Mayor’s office and our city.Across the entire City of Burlington team I have seen a tireless work ethic, adaptability and persistence like no other industry I’ve worked in before and I will cherish both what I have learned and the amazing people I have worked with. The same can be said of the many generous and compassionate residents who give their time and energy to countless community organizations and charities in every corner of our city and who I have been very fortunate to meet and be inspired by.The Mayor continues to have my unwavering support as well as my everlasting gratitude for entrusting me with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. With sincere thanks,❤️ Victoria
