Mayor Meed Ward’s Weekly Update: September 20-26, 2021

Good Morning Burlington,The 2021 Federal Election takes place today and once again the people of Canada will elect members of the House of Commons to the 44th Canadian parliament. This is democracy in action and I encourage every person in our community to take part and make your voice heard. This is both our right and our privilege and believe me - every vote matters! I was able to vote on an advanced polling day and based on the lines I saw around town last week, many others did the same - awesome to see!Polling stations are open from 9:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. here in Burlington. If your work hours make it a challenge be sure you know that your employer must help accommodate you with time to vote.If you are looking for a helpful resource to better understand the candidates and their platforms, here's a great starting point full of information. You can also check out the resources on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities website, of which we are a supportive member. If you are unsure where to vote, you can find your polling station here. There are many forms of identification that are accepted, so don't worry if you did not receive a voter information card in the mail. If you are unsure if you are eligible, you can check online.NOW GET OUT AND VOTE!Check out my weekly update for the week ahead right here: Mayors Weekly Public Update Sept 20-26~ Mayor Marianne Meed Ward
