Neighbourhood meeting Jan. 11 for Saxony request to add 2 storeys at Elgin/Locust
A neighbourhood meeting has been confirmed for residents to learn more, ask questions and share comments about the proposed changes to the Saxony building at Locust and Elgin streets:Date: Jan. 11Time: 7pmPlace: City Hall, Council Chambers, 2nd floor, 426 Brant St.Background:The owner of the site has applied for two extra storeys on the property, for a total of 56 units, commercial space on the ground floor and three levels of underground parking. The existing zoning is 4 storeys. The developer relocated a historic home on the property (down the street to Elgin/Maple) and had begun excavation before running into soil contamination issues which slowed the project. The request is to increase the height and density. No decisions have been made on the project. Staff are seeking resident input before making a recommendation to the Planning & Development committee of council to approve, deny or approve the application with modifications. A council vote later in 2018 will decide the matter. The original public commenting deadline of Dec. 8 has been extended. If you have any immediate questions on the project, contact Melissa Morgan, 905.335.7600, x7788 or melissa.morgan@burlington.ca.A resident letter is being mailed out.
