Revised timeline for approval of Burlington's Official Plan: downtown discussion Jan. 23; OP approval in April

City planning staff have released a revised schedule for approval of the Official Plan, and the downtown precinct policies.Jan. 23: The downtown policies (originally scheduled for approval Jan. 16) will come back to the Planning & Development Committee Jan. 23. I will be bringing forward several motions to modify the proposed precincts, which will be posted here shortly: Changes needed to downtown planThe public can attend this meeting and Register as a Delegation to speak, as staff will be providing additional information in response to questions that arose at the Nov. 30 committee meeting where the downtown was first discussed. This information is expected to be available to the community about a week before the meeting.Additional dates have been scheduled for questions and comments on specific aspects of the plan, as follows: No delegations will be registered for these meetings, as they are a continuation of the previous Official Plan meeting:Jan. 8, 1pm: Rural, Agricultural, Natural Heritage and Mineral AggregatesJan. 16, 1 pm & 6:30pm: Employment ConversionsFeb. 6, 1pm & 6:30 pm: Growth Management, and any remaining topics (except the downtown).Additional OP meetings will be held the first week of January as part of scheduled Planning & Development Committee meetings to discuss specific topic areas, including:No delegations will be registered for these meetings, as they are a continuation of the previous Official Plan meeting:Feb. 27: The second statutory public meeting to discuss the entire Official Plan will take place as part of the Planning & Development Committee on Feb. 27, 2018. Residents can attend and delegate (speak to committee). No pre registration is required, as this is a Statutory Public Meeting, but registered delegations will be heard first, then delegations from the floor.April 4 & 23: A meeting to recommend adoption of the new Official Plan will take place as part of the Planning & Development Committee the first week of April (likely April 4).
