Proof of Vaccination No Longer Required at City of Burlington Recreation Facilities as of March 1, 2022
MY TAKE:In all of our decisions, we have been guided by advice from our Halton Region Medical Officer of Health (MOH). At the most recent Regional Council meeting of Feb. 16, I asked our MOH if she would be recommending maintaining any health measures that are currently being lifted by the Province. Her response was we should align with the Province, provided health indicators for COVID-19 continue to trend down. As such, we are following that advice and aligning with the Province by lifting the requirement to show proof of vaccinations to enter City facilities. The Province has yet to make a decision about lifting the requirement for masks. The City’s bylaw is set to expire June 30, or within 5 days of the Province lifting the requirement for masks, unless Burlington Council chooses to extend the bylaw or revoke it earlier. The Region’s mask bylaw is set to expire April 30.The City also has a physical distancing bylaw, that is set to expire June 30 unless extended or revoked earlier by Burlington Council.
