Second Active Transportation Plan Workshop for Rural Burlington planned for March
If you missed the free Rural Active Transportation Strategy workshop that was held earlier this month, there is another planned for Thursday, March 7.The City of Burlington is taking this on in order to create safe walking and cycling options in rural Burlington for residents. Having safe and connected active transportation infrastructure gives residents access to recreational and green spaces in rural Burlington through walking, cycling or any other form of transportation, without a car.Rural Burlington has a unique set of challenges and opportunities that this strategy plans to address through the following:
- Identifying opportunities to enhance safety. Provide realistic, cost-effective options to enable active transportation;
- Identifying missing links and barriers to active transportation;
- Identifying opportunities to integrate the Bruce Trail into the on-road transportation facilities; and
- Improving the safety of trail crossings.
The free workshop will give residents a chance to hear about how people are currently using active transportation in rural Burlington, the types of trips being taken and where people are going. The City also wants to hear from residents about any issues or barriers to using active transportation. It will also interactive, providing an opportunity to discuss and visualize active transportation facilities suitable for small town and rural areas — and is available to anyone interested in active transportation in rural Burlington.It will take place at Conservation Halton, 2596 Britannia Rd., from 6:30-9 p.m.To register for the free event contact:
