Small Urban GTHA Mayors Remind Residents to get Vaccinated Based on Eligibility
*Please see below a news release issued by the Small Urban GTHA Mayors.
For Immediate ReleaseApril 9, 2021"The Small Urban GTHA Mayors met today to discuss the current stay-at-home order, vaccine rollouts and the importance of getting vaccinated. It is imperative for people to book their vaccination appointment based on the eligibility criteria as established within the public health unit where they reside. Regional variations in eligibility criteria can occur due to various circumstances such as the location of identified hot spots. The Mayors remind their residents that the best vaccine is the one first available to you.We are grateful to the Federal and Provincial governments for taking a targeted approach during Phase 2 of the vaccine distribution plan and call on them to consider vaccinating those residents living in small urban communities that require travel to and from identified "hot spots" for employment purposes. Furthermore, we call on our Provincial and Federal partners to provide additional clarity on where and how the vaccines are being distributed across Ontario. We remind residents that during the stay-at-home order, only socialize with those living in your household, enjoy the outdoors within your local community while following your local public health regulations and only go out for essential items."-30-Contact:Mayor Tom Mrakastmrakas@aurora.caInterim ChairSmall Urban GTHA MayorsAbout the Small Urban GTHA Mayors:The Small Urban GTHA Mayors includes: The Town of Aurora; Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury; Town of Caledon; Town of East Gwillimbury; Town of Georgina; Town of Halton Hills; Township of King; Town of Newmarket; Town of Orangeville; Township of Scugog; Township of Uxbridge; and Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.—PLEASE NOTE: To stay updated on what the City of Burlington is doing regarding COVID-19, please visit the dedicated pages burlington.ca/coronavirus (and subscribe) and bit.ly/mayormeedwardCOVID19updates, and our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page — bit.ly/COVID19BurlingtonFAQ that are updated as new information becomes available.A consolidated page for information and updates on the work of the provincial Ministers’ COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force is available at bit.ly/COVIDVaccineUpdates.Halton Region has also created a dedicated COVID-19 Vaccine webpage at halton.ca/covidvaccines for up to date information on the status of our COVID19 vaccination program.A Burlington COVID-19 Task Force has been created to help support our community through this unprecedented emergency — updates will be provided at burlington.ca/COVID19taskforce.To report an incident of non-compliance with provincial emergency orders, please contact the Halton Regional Police Service COVID-19 Hotline: 905-825-4722.We’ve also created a dedicated page to feature the local organizations and businesses that have inspired us during the COVID-19 pandemic by taking action to support our community in new and creative ways — head to bit.ly/covidwallofinspiration.HELPFUL RESOURCES & RELATED LINKS:
