Upcoming Burlington Public Information Centres for Civic Square renewal and Tuck Creek flood mitigation

There are a few Public Information Centres (PICs) coming up that deal with a renewal project for Civic Square and Brant Street, and the second phase of the Tuck Creek Flood Mitigation involving the New Street bridge upgrade and channel works.TUCK CREEK FLOOD MITIGATION (2019-03-20 PIC Notice TC 2 Final) — PIC on Wednesday, March 20The City of Burlington completed the Tuck Creek Flood Assessment and Crossing Upgrades Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study (hydro corridor north of New Street to Spruce Avenue) in June 2016. The study was completed following the extreme rain storm on Aug. 4, 2014 during which significant creek flooding occurred in this area. The Study’s recommendations include stormwater infrastructure improvements to reduce the flooding risk. The recommended works were divided into three phases. Phase 1, which includes the Regal Road bridge upgrade and channel works between New Street and Spruce Avenue, is currently under construction and will be completed in the of summer 2019.Phase 2 Phase 2 includes upgrading both the New Street bridge and the creek channel (from the hydro corridor to south of New Street). Construction is anticipated to begin in July 2019.You are invited to a Public Information Centre (PIC) where you can discuss the project and get more information on the details of the design and upcoming construction, including limits of construction, site access, tree preservation and plantings.

 CIVIC SQUARE AND BRANT STREET RENEWAL — PICs on Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday, April 3There will be two Public Information Centres on the Civic Square and Brant Street Renewal Project that will include a brief presentation at the start, followed by an open house with opportunities for public input and conversations with city staff from various departments.• Tuesday, March 26, from 1-3 p.m., in Room 247, on the second floor, in City Hall, 426 Brant St.; and• Wednesday, April 3, from 7-9 p.m., in Room 305, on the third floor, in City Hall, 426 Brant.
