UPDATE: Third-Party Advertiser Who Targeted Burlington Mayor's 2018 Election Campaign Arrested, Court Appearance Jan. 21

UPDATE: On Sept. 8, 2020 charges of fraud and uttering a forged document against Sean Baird were withdrawn. Four remaining offences against Mr. Baird – tied to contravention of the municipal elections act – were withdrawn by the Crown on April 4, 2022.


Jan. 9, 2020: The Third Party Advertiser who targeted my 2018 mayoral election campaign with negative advertising was arrested over the Christmas holidays, and will make his first court appearance Tuesday, Jan. 21 at the Milton courthouse, 491 Steeles Ave. E.Sean Baird has been charged with:
  • Uttering a Forged Document – Contrary to section 368(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada;
  • Fraud over $5000 – Contrary to section 380(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada; and
  • Corrupt Practice (four counts) – Contrary to the Municipal Elections Act.
