Did you know the local company created a gimbal that was used in Marvel's Black Panther movie — and that PV Labs has both an Emmy award and Academy Award for technical contributions to movie-making?Yesterday (Jan. 8), I attended an announcement at PV Labs with Burlington MP and Minister of International Development, the Honourable Karina Gould and Ward 1 Councillor Kelvin Galbraith regarding a $4 million USD investment from Lockheed Martin. The contribution beings the U.S., federal and municipal partners together to spur the expansion of this key business and enables it to continue revolutionizing electro-optical/infrared sensing.Lockheed Martin's investment also directly supports the Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) policy obligations associated with Canada's purchase and maintenance of 17 CC-130J Super Hercules aircraft.PV Labs is a growing technology business in Burlington providing high-value STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) jobs to our city. They had 25 employees two years ago. They have 45 today and will have more than 75 employees by the end of 2020.
