Burlington's Ron Foxcroft appointed to the Order of Canada
Last month, we joined countless of proud Burlingtonians in congratulating one of our own — Ron Foxcroft — for being appointed to the Order of Canada by Her Excellency, the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada. It is a well-deserved honour. The Order is how Canada recognizes and honours those who make extraordinary contributions to the nation. Since its creation in 1967 — Canada’s centennial year — more than 7,000 people from all walks of life have been invested into the Order. Their contributions vary, but they have all enriched the lives of others and made a difference to this country. Their grit and passion inspire us, teach us and show us the way forward; exemplifying the Order’s motto: DESIDERANTES MELIOREM PATRIAM (“They desire a better country”).As a past-chair and current board member of the Burlington Foundation, Ron is being honoured for his contributions as a sports referee, inventor, entrepreneur and engaged community leader. As Chairman and CEO of Fox 40 International and Fluke Transportation Group, and as the inventor of the Fox 40 whistle used throughout professional sports, Ron's business leadership and community commitment are legendary. Joining Burlington Foundation's board in 2014, he led the support of thousands of Burlington flood victims as Chair of the Burlington Foundation Flood Disaster Relief Committee. Since that critical time of need, Ron has continued his active foundation involvement to help make impactful change happen in the community. The Hamilton Spectator put together a piece on Ron's appointment.
