Mayor Meed Ward’s Weekly Update: December 7-13, 2020
We are into our second and final week of this year's Mayor's Holiday Fundraiser for our local veterans, many of whom reside in retirement and care homes where they cannot have as many visitors as they're used to because of the current pandemic. The holidays are an even harder time to be separated from our loved ones.We can help these special members of our community - who fought for the peace, freedoms and rights we enjoy here in Canada - by donating a gift of a cozy new blanket and/or some warm new slippers to keep them warm through this particularly challenging winter ahead. I know it is hard to get out shopping these days, but if you're ordering items online or grabbing something curbside pickup from a great local business, consider supporting this group of brave men and women. If it's hard for you to drop the items off in our drop box just inside the City Hall lobby doors (remember there's two free 20-minute spots in the City Hall parking lot facing Elgin Street), just email me and my team at mayor@burlington.ca and we will gladly pop by your work or residence and pick them up this week. Thank you to everyone who has already donated and to everyone yet to come! The week ahead is a very busy one with many committee meetings and more. Lots to do in keeping the business of the city running for our residents and businesses, and to help keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible through this pandemic.Read the full update here: Mayors Weekly Public Update Dec 7 - 13
